SELFIES

This is me. Pretty cute.

Beth Gower, Selfie, May 2026. Imagined at an earlier age for sure.

Artist seated in a studio beside an easel, painting a village scene with a small portrait on the wall.

Painted August, 2015 while living on Timberwilde. It actually contains 3 paintings–one of Beth, one of Bob and a village scene in England.

This was painted over.  Sometimes Beth’s requirements are too high. This one did not make the cut. Actually, I was trying to improve it but it just became worse and finally died. I know other painters have the same problem.  It’s probably similar to writing a book.

This is a quick self-portrait.  We had just redone the condo and finished the wallpaper. It would have been about 2022. Morganne was the only one who noticed the wallpaper!  Rachel says it doesn’t look like me at all.  Allison likes everything - as does Bob.  I like it myself.

This was an experiment.  I eventually painted over it.  Another example of standards being too high.

Beth and the Raggedy Ann doll that Mrs Rice made for Rachel’s third birthday.  This was painted about 1998 on Timberwilde. No actual copy exists.

Beth and Bob wedding photo. I painted it from a photo by our best man, Harry Eaton. My brother, Mark, took many other photos but our little post office burned down and all were lost. This was Sept 6, 1959 in West Frankfort, Illinois. My mother, Nancy Miller, had died the year before but my father, Hilary, gave me away. Brenda was my maid of honor; John and Mark and their families were there. I painted this after we moved to our condo on Westcott. 2026.
